Governor Sule launches construction of N2bn recreation center project

Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has inaugurated the construction of the Karu Retail and Entertainment Center to boost economic activities in the area and around the corridors of Abuja.

Speaking at the ceremony in Karu Local Government Area on Thursday, Sule said the N2 billion project located in Muhammadu International Market, Karu is being executed in collaboration with The Mall Company as part of of a public-private partnership agreement.

He explained that the project was a dream come true as it is in line with his administration’s development plan for the state, the Nasarawa Economic Development Strategy Paper.

The governor said his administration had leveraged Karu’s proximity to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, to attract several investments for the state’s socio-economic development, expressing optimism that the project would create Youth employment opportunities abound in the state.

He said, “We are going to build a world-class plinth bridge to connect the Center to the modern bus station, equipped with an electronic advertising platform which would generate additional revenue for the state.

“We strive to unlock the potential of Nasarawa and build a self-sufficient economy that empowers citizens to struggle. I therefore urge both private and public sector investors to take advantage of the business climate, as Nasarawa is no longer a civil service state but an investment destination.

Earlier, The Mall company’s managing director, Yahaya Yahaya, said the project would be completed within a year and would feature ShopRite as the retail anchor and a mix well balanced of indigenous and international food retail chain tenants.

He said: “The development of this modern retail and leisure park goes beyond the construction of a shopping mall, but provides an opportunity for the agricultural sector to grow as food would move from farm to farm. shelf and at the table.

“We will feature restaurants, electronics and gadget stores, fashion retailers, drugstores, an expansive amusement park and children’s play area, and other online tenants. On behalf of my company, I would like to thank the Nasarawa State Government and other stakeholders for the opportunity to be part of the development of the state. »

Nasarawa State Investment Development Agency Director General Ibrahim Abdullahi said the project is a historic partnership for the retail sector in the state, while stressing that Governor Sule was poised to revitalize the state’s economy through private sector involvement.

He encouraged investors from all over the world to take advantage of the conducive business environment created by the administration to invest in Nasarawa State.
