Construction company owner Kearney run over by bulldozer, killed

On Wednesday March 2, 2022 at approximately 10:33 a.m. Kearney Police were called to the Blueprint Engines construction site at 2915 Marshall Avenue, Kearney for an injury accident.

Preliminary information indicates that Mr. Ron Blessing, owner of Blessing Construction, was accidentally run over by a bulldozer. After the accident, the bulldozer continued, unattended, to move south through a field, for about a quarter of a mile until it got stuck in the north ditch along Coal Chute Road.

Witness statements and the preliminary investigation indicate that Mr. Blessing was driving the bulldozer prior to the accident. Mr. Blessing was transported to CHI Good Samaritan by ambulance where he succumbed to his injuries. Family notifications have been made.

“On my behalf, on behalf of the entire Kearney Police Department and the Town of Kearney, our thoughts and prayers go out to the Blessing family, Blessing Construction and everyone affected by this tragic accident,” said Kearney Police Chief Bryan Waugh.

This accident is still under investigation by the Kearney Police Department, Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Team.

Deputies from the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Kearney Police Department along with paramedics from CHI Good Samaritan Hospital responded to the scene.
